Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Show - Fresno State

On Friday, April 17, the graduating students of the Graphic Design Program at Fresno State will present their work at the Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Show from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Phebe Conley Gallery.

This year’s show, which will remain on display until April 24, is an accumulation of four years of award-winning work by the graphic design students. The Senior Portfolio Show not only showcases the work of graduating students, but also reflects the success of the Department of Art and Design at Fresno State.

“Each year the Senior Portfolio Show is better than the last,” said Charles Shields, a professor in the Graphic Design Program at Fresno State. “I expect this year’s show to blow everyone away.”

This annual show is comprised of 20 students’ work, representing the best of the Central Valley. Each year the Graphic Design Senior Portfolio Show is viewed by hundreds of industry professionals from the creative community.

“This is a perfect way for us to display our creative work to the community,” said Thomas Rouse, a senior graphic design student at Fresno State. “Not only will industry professionals get a chance to see our creative work, but we will have a great opportunity to network.”

Rouse is among four students in this year’s show who have been recognized by the Fresno Advertising Federation as ADDY Award winners. The Fresno Advertising Federation is a prestigious organization that recognizes professional creative excellence in the Central Valley.

The graphic design seniors are assigned projects from local clients and agencies. One of the major projects was assigned by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, a client of Jeffrey Scott Agency in Fresno.

"I was very impressed with the results of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District/Healthy Air Living project that I assigned to the senior Advertising Design students for a class project,” said Suzanne Davis, the art director for Jeffrey Scott Agency. “They are a very talented group and I look forward to attending this year's Portfolio Show to see what else they have created."

Jeffrey Scott Agency is one of the leading advertising, marketing, new media, public relations and research agencies in the Central Valley. They have represented big-name clients such as Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino, Wienerschnitzel, California Pistachio, Crime Stoppers, the Fresno Grizzlies, Bonadelle Neighborhoods, Sequoia Brewing Company and Fresno State.

The best way to access the Phebe Conley Gallery is to enter Fresno State’s campus from Shaw Avenue. Turn north onto N. Woodrow Avenue and turn left at the first stop sign. Parking will be free for the opening reception on April 17.
