This exhibition explores the line between art and design.
Is there a point where something crosses over?
Is it all art? All design?
What differentiates one from the other?

Fresno Design Alliance would like your participation in exploring these questions. Come to the show and give us your opinion.

You decide what is art.
What is design.
And maybe if somethings are both.

Hi all --

The first annual art | design show has been quite exciting and it's not even hung yet. We've received over 50 entries and have had seven industry professionals juror the show. The team is working over the next few days to hang the show.

The evening before the jurors arrived, the dental office next door to where the entries were stored had a water pipe burst. Yes, you read that correctly. Murphy's Law in full effect. Approximately a dozen pieces were damaged. Some damage was slight and some more extensive. All of the artists with damaged pieces have been notified. So, if you haven't heard from the art | design team, then your piece was not effected. We are working with the artists of the damaged pieces to get replacements for the show as necessary.

The jurors consisted of a range of industry professionals:
Pat Barr, Artist and Retired Educator
Lynn Baker, Freelance Graphic Artist
Doug Morris, Creative Director, Thielen IdeaCorp
Michael Parola, Graphic Designer, Parola Design
Jeff Steele, Product Developer and Artist
Rob Weibel, Artist
Ron Wigginton, Artist-Land Studio, Retired Landscape Architect and Art Professor


Many thanks to all of you who submitted work. It was a great turn out.

Now, we look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday to determine what you think is art and what is design.
